Providing an annual holiday for disabled children |
|
|
Storage Ever since The Disabled Childrens Holiday started, we have required to store bits of equipment. In past years we have borrowed spare bed from peoples houses and it was a mamoth move collecting things for the holiday from some 30 different houses. In 1998 The Ruislip Churches Together formed ORCHYD as a Charity. The First main Purchase of the Charity was 24 metal framed beds and these were stored at Ickenham Road Methodist Church during the rest of the year. Also we managed to rent a Garage for storage as well meaning we only had to collect the equipment from 3 places (The Garage, Ickenham Road and out of a loft space at the Baptist Church in Ruislip Manor) The Storage at the garage was no longer available in 2003 so we moved to RAF Northolt for a year and then with the help of 2/9th Scout Group we have used a lot of their space in a hut at their ground in St Catherines Road. In 2006, ORCHYD was given planning permission to build a one storey facility on the grounds leased to the 2/9th Scout Group from the Hillingdon Borough. The plan is to build this store as soon as possible, so that the Scouts can have their hut back in operational order. To build the hut we need to lay a base and front apron area with drainage and then construct the building its self. Once that is up then we have to fit out the inside to our needs, that is a long job. We Now have a post box for ORCHYD mail 18 St Catherines Road Ruislip HA4 7RU
