Providing an annual holiday for disabled children

As the Holiday is a Residential Holiday help is required for all areas of the Holiday.  Below is a list of some of the jobs undertaken by the Helpers on the Holiday.

Escort Duties - This is the one to one interaction with the Children, at all times when the children are outside of the hall there is always a dedicated carer for that child.  This is especially important on the Trips as you go around the various attractions in smaller groups always with a First Aider and Appointed Radio User.

Security Duties - These are split into to two types a) Hall Security; when the children are not there but the hall is still open and you need to make sure people who are there are meant to be there. b) Door Duty; when the children are at the hall and all children must be checked out of the hall when leaving with an assigned helper, as well as ensuring all adults and visitors are signed in and should be at the hall.

Kitchen Duties - Breakfast, Lunch, Lunch Boxes, Dinner, Washing Up and Shopping are all things that need to be done for the holiday to work.

House Keeping - The Hall needs to be cleaned everyday, generally timed when the children are out on a trip.  The floors need to be swept, toys tidied, beds made, clothes put away, general cleaning up and putting away as well as the toilets and shower area need to be cleaned.  Also the Laundry needs to be done but there is a separate duty for this.

General Duties - The hall starts off as St Martins Church Hall and is transformed to our living area for 10 days, this is done by hard work by some unsung hero's.  All the equipment is removed from storage, cleaned and set up.  at the end of the all of it has to be cleaned, packed away and returned to storage.  Hard work but many hands make light work...

Nursing - Qualified Nurses, Doctors and Health Professionals are needed for simplified duties.  Include primary medical care, issuing of drugs, specialist feeds, physio and additional care follow up after First Aid.

Specialist Duties - Night Shifts - 8 night staff look after the hall and children when they are asleep, there is also an on call Nurse or Doctor available and all Night Staff are offered a BLS Paediatric course in the June/July time.  Coach Loading - dedicated teams who load the children onto the coaches, secure the wheelchairs and stow any bags and additional equipment needed on the coach, whilst working closely with the Driver of the vehicle.  They also have responsibility for the security and safety of the children whilst on the Coach.  Case Checking - All the Children's Cases need to be accurately checked when they arrive and when the leave to ensure they leave with all their possessions
