Fancy joining us…?
You could be the best bed maker, a dab hand at the hob, brilliant with children or simply a doctor all stethoscope’d up and ready to be on call. The point is as long as you pass the DBS check* with flying colours, are over sixteen years old and wish to help in some way, ORCHYD would love to have you along.
By offering to help you will be a part of something special which happens just once a year – ten days, which to some are nothing more than dates in the diary, are turned into an experience whereby you learn about yourself, helping children and what the meaning of words like fun, inspiring, enjoyable, caring and fantastic truly are!
Obviously the children and their parents really appreciate it too, for without you, there really is no holiday!

Volunteering Opportunities
ORCHYD Adventurers
You will be paired with a child who you will provide one to one care for throughout the duration of the day getting involved in activities and making sure they get the most out of the experience.
Early Risers
Helping the children to getup, washed and dressed. Followed by being a helping hand with breakfast
Bedtime Squad
A shorter shift in the evenings to help get the children ready for bed and settled for the night.
Night Crew
A duty aimed at experienced helpers who stay at the hall overnight to provide care and security for the children. Volunteers are expected to have been a helper for at least one year and are over 18.
Driving
To be a minibus driver you need to be over 21 years with a full driving licence (with a max of 6 points), medically fit and able to attend the driving training course
Kitchen Duties
Help make breakfast, packed lunches and delicious dinners. These are short shifts of just 2-3hrs throughout the day…pick as many or as few as you like!
Housekeeping
Help make the beds, sorting the laundry ad keeping everywhere clean and tidy. These are short shifts throughout the day, of 2-3hour duration.
Security
This the welcoming team! The first people that arrivals to ORCHYD get to see. Early morning, daytime and evening shifts. Making sure that everyone is signed in and out correctly in case of an emergency.
Healthcare
Registered healthcare professionals offer 24 hour care which involves medication rounds, caring for children during emergencies & feeding through gastrostomy sites (training and skills checks will be completed - please talk to our HCP lead if you want to understand more of what this role entails).
